NKK Switches Announces DR Series DIP Rotaries

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (June 23, 2004) - The DR series of DIP rotaries features highly visible legends and offers a choice of screwdriver, shaft, dial-adjusted or knob actuators, with trouble-free code setting. Additionally, designers can specify arrow or dot indicators. An optional panel seal mount is available in the DRA model and can be installed with the behind panel o-ring for protection against splashed or sprayed liquids.

All models are constructed with an ultrasonically welded case, o-ring sealed actuator and insert molded terminals to seal out flux and other contaminants. This sealed construction prevents contamination and allows automated wave soldering and washing.

DR series devices are available in both real and compliment codes that are identified by a color-keyed actuator. Design engineers can specify either 10 or 16 position switches, and can select between straight PC, bracketed PC and right angle mount versions. The detent mechanism gives crisp, positive action ensuring an accurate switch setting. All contacts are self-wiping, delivering contact reliability and continuity.

This series of DIP rotaries has compact dimensions and its low profile allows high- density mounting and close stacking of PC boards. The PC terminals are crimped and ensure secure PC mounting by preventing dislodging during the wave soldering process.

The switching rating is 100mA @ 5V DC and the nonswitching rating is 100mA @ 50V DC. In addition, these devices have a recognized flammability rating of UL94V-0 for the housing, actuator, case and base. The DR series is available through NKK's network of authorized distributors around the world.
