Diode-Pumped Lasers feature external trigger capabilities.

Press Release Summary:

Gator® Series solid-state lasers deliver over 10,000 hr of continuous operation. They are completely sealed and can be controlled via RS232 or parallel interface. Ability to vary repetition rate from 5-15 kHz allows user to match laser's repetition rate to varying feed rates, and variable output power helps user adjust output power to changing process conditions. Units offer option to switch wavelength between 1064 nm and higher harmonics wavelengths.

Design Improvements Add Flexibility to Lambda Physik's Gator Series DPSS Lasers

FORT LAUDERDALE, FLORIDA, January 28, 2003 -Lambda Physik has recently introduced a number of engineering enhancements to the Gator® Series diode pumped solid-state (DPSS) lasers that provide customers with more flexibility and improved micromachining quality. The design improvements incorporate a combination of new features such as a variable repetition rate, external trigger capabilities, variable output power, parallel interface, and an option to switch wavelengths.

The ability to Vary the Repetition Rate from 5kHz to 15kHz allows the user to match the laser's repetition rate to varying feed rates during the process. The External Trigger capabilities enables the user to sync the laser pulses to the process and control the repetition rate directly through an external trigger signal. The Variable Output Power helps the user to adjust the laser's output power to changing process conditions. The Parallel Interface greatly simplifies the integration in CNC controlled systems by providing fast hardware control signals for the laser. And the option to Switch Wavelengths allows the user to toggle between the Fundamental wavelength (1064 nm) and the higher haromonics wavelengths.

These improvements ultimately can expand the Gator applications, improve part quality, reduce costs, and simplify servicing the lasers. The Gator and PowerGator lasers adapt well to OEM and end-user applications because they are easy to interface and designed for 24-hour production demands. The Gator lasers do not require user adjustment of optics, are completely sealed, can be controlled via RS232 or the new parallel interface. The robust, reliable system delivers over 10,000 hours of trouble-free, continuous operation, reducing overall costs and increasing production uptime.
