Melles Griot Announces a New Family of Lasers: The 56 RCS Series
Carlsbad, CA - Melles Griot, a global supplier of photonics components and subsystems, announces the 56 RCS series, a new family of high-performance diode lasers assemblies with output ranging from 408 to 830 nm. The first product in the series, the 56 RCS 002/HV, will be unveiled at Laser Munich in June, 2005.
The 56 RCS-series platform is designed to satisfy the requirements for both OEM and end-user applications. Based on the proven Melles Griot 56 ICS technology, the new platform incorporates advanced beam-conditioning optics for improved output quality and a new user interface which includes an hour meter, status LEDs, and operator control of laser and thermoelectric cooler currents.
The 56 RCS 002/HV, which produces 50 mW of output at 408 nm, was designed specifically for reprographics applications. "However, with both excellent beam quality and high-speed modulation capability, this laser is an ideal choice for any application requiring the ultimate in performance from a violet diode laser," noted Scott Crawford, Product Manager for diode laser products at the Melles Griot Laser Group. The linearly polarized beam is 2.5 mm in diameter, nearly circular (< 1.1:1 aspect ratio), and has an M² factor of less than 1.2. Modulation rise and fall times are <1.5 nsec.
