Advance Expands Mark 10(TM) Powerline Dimming Line with New Ballast for 18-Watt CFL Operation

Advance Transformer Co., Rosemont, Illinois, has announced the availability of a new Mark 10(TM) Powerline Dimming Ballast for the operation of one or two 18-watt Triple or Quad Tube Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFLs).

The new ballast delivers full-range (100%-5%) continuous dimming capability, allowing users to adjust lighting levels to fit their needs and enhance their visual comfort, and fully supports California Title 24. With a 26-watt version serving as the lowest-wattage Mark 10 Powerline model previously available, the new 18-watt model will appeal to the hospitality industry as an attractive and cost-effective dimmable alternative to 75-watt incandescent lighting.

Since Advance Mark 10 Powerline Dimming Ballasts take their dimming signals directly from the power line, no additional control wiring is required, making installation a simple and cost-efficient process. The new ballast can operate with a wide variety of controls from over 20 control manufacturers, including wall box dimmers, architectural dimmers, occupancy sensors, and others. An additional benefit is the energy cost savings dimmable fluorescent lighting makes possible.

Like other Mark 10 Powerline units, the new ballast provides programmed-start operation for optimized lamp life in frequent starting conditions. It will provide lamp ignition at any light setting, including the 5% dim level, making it unnecessary to ramp up to 100% light output when starting. Other features of the new ballast include operation above 40 kHz to minimize risk of interference problems, and a special lamp end-of-life (EOL) system that safely removes power from the lamp at its end of life, helping to prevent lamp overheating.

The new ballast is available for use on both 120-volt and 277-volt systems with a choice of mounting and connector options. Catalog numbers for one-lamp operation are: REZ-1Q18-M2-BS (120V, with bottom studs and single-entry connector), VEZ-1Q18-M2-BS (277V, with bottom studs and single-entry connector), REZ-1Q18-M2-LD (120V, with length mounting feet and dual-entry connector), and VEZ-1Q18-M2-LD (277V, with length mounting feet and dual-entry connector). Catalog numbers for two-lamp operation are: REZ-2Q18-M2-BS (120V, with bottom studs and single-entry connector), VEZ-2Q18-M2-BS (277V, with bottom studs and single-entry connector), REZ-2Q18-M2-LD (120V, with length mounting feet and dual-entry connector), and VEZ-2Q18-M2-LD (277V, length mounting feet and dual-entry connector). All connectors are color-coded for easy, accurate connection. The ballasts are encased in compact housings (3.00"W X 4.55"L X 1.29"H), making them ideal for use in downlighting fixtures and other applications where space may be at a premium.
