Dimensioning Equipment sees singulated and spaced shapes.

Press Release Summary:

Cargoscan 5200 uses parallel infrared laser rangefinder technology to dimension all shapes of objects. It prevents shadowing and blind spots, provides accurate dimensions for both cuboidal and non-cuboidal objects, and can "see" all sides regardless of shape. System works on objects whether they are singulated and spaced or are multiple non-touching objects. With optional software package, system can dimension multiple touching objects.

Mettler Toledo Introduces the CS5200 Family of Dimensioning Equipment

METTLER TOLEDO introduces the newest addition to our family of dimensioning devices: the Cargoscan 5200 (CS5200). The CS5200 uses Parallel Infrared Laser Rangefinder (PILAR®) technology allowing it to dimension all shapes of objects. The PILAR technology prevents shadowing and blind spots and provides accurate dimensions for both cuboidal and non-cuboidal objects. For example, as an object moves down the conveyor belt, the PILAR technology is able to "see" all sides of the object regardless of the shape, and determine the smallest container into which the object will fit. This reduces the risk of missed items in shipment and lost revenue.

"The CS5200 is the most flexible, accurate, dimensioning device currently offered to the marketplace. It provides the user with the most options, meeting all of today's operating challenges," said Ted Hendricks, Transport Marketing Manager for METTLER TOLEDO.

The CS5200 has the ability to accurately dimension objects moving down a conveyor whether they are singulated and spaced, or are multiple non-touching objects. With the optional software package, the CS5200 is also capable of dimensioning multiple touching objects. Its ability to accurately dimension non-cuboidal objects makes it an ideal system for determining proper shipping costs of "big ugly" and non-conveyable items. The CS5200 may be mounted over existing conveyors and will provide accurate measurements for objects moving at rates up to 600 fpm. In addition to the PILAR technology, the enhanced graphical user interface screen on the CS5200 displays which packages are touching, summarizes throughput data, captures error faults and indicates when the CS5200 has successfully completed the dimensioning process.
