Photron, Inc. Introduces Miniature, Remote, Multi-Head, High Speed Video System

September 19, 2006- San Diego, CA - Photron, Inc., a global leader in high speed imaging and image analysis software, introduces the new remote, multi-head FASTCAM MH-4 digital video imaging system. The miniature, high speed video system allows the use of one to four detachable camera heads. Each measures only 35mm x 35mm x 35mm (less than 1.5 inches³ without lens) and weighs less than 100 grams. The system features excellent light sensitivity with full 512 x 512 pixel resolution up to 2,000 frames per second (fps) and up to 10,000 fps at reduced resolution. Photron's compact FASTCAM MH-4 camera system utilizes a 10-micron-square pixel with an 8-bit monochrome and 24-bit color CMOS sensor.

Designed for maximum flexibility in hostile conditions such as vehicle impact testing, the camera heads can be easily mounted in areas of limited space in any orientation using the highly flexible, 10-meter (32.8 foot) cable lengths. Three cable types (90 degrees right, straight, and 90 degrees left) and two camera head connector configurations (top or rear-mounted) simplify mounting and placement of the tiny camera heads. The tilting camera mount features compact NF style lenses, with a C-mount adaptor also available. Photron's FASTCAM MH-4 cameras are ruggedized to withstand high shock and vibration with high-G ratings up to 100 G's on any axis, making them ideal for recording and motion analysis of critical events during high impact tests. The FASTCAM MH-4 is also suitable for any high speed imaging tasks that require camera positioning within confined areas and on low-mass mounting surfaces, such as pedal and footwell areas, steering columns, safety belt mountings, and more.
Photron's FASTCAM MH-4 has a single processor that supports up to four cameras with Gig-E connectivity. The included battery backup provides up to an hour of power-loss security.
