Digital To Analog Converters guarantee 16-bit monotonicity.

Press Release Summary:

Dual Model LTC2602 and quad Model LTC2604 are available in 12, 14, and 16-bit versions, each with monotonic performance over temperature with DNL of ±1 LSBMAX. Model LTC2604 consumes 250 µA per DAC and drops to 0.25 µA per DAC in power-down mode. Each DAC can be simultaneously updated with different input code. Converters deliver rail-to-rail voltage outputs over 2.5-5.5 V supply range. Dual models come in MSOP-8 package, while quad models come in SSOP-16 package.

Dual and Quad VOUT DACs Guaranteed 16-Bit Monotonicity Over Temperature

MILPITAS, CA - April 7, 2004 - Linear Technology introduces the LTC2602 dual and LTC2604 quad 16-Bit VOUT DACs. Also available in 12-Bit and 14-Bit versions, these DACs guarantee monotonic performance over temperature with Differential Non-Linearity (DNL) of ±1LSBMAX, which is critical in control loop applications. The LTC2604 consume only 250uA per DAC and drop to 0.25uA per DAC in power-down mode. The LTC2602 family is available in a tiny 8-pin MSOP package, half the size on an SO-8. High resolution, small size and low power make these low cost dual and quad DACs ideal for digital calibration, portable instrumentation and industrial process control applications.

These DACs feature an easy to use interface and buffered rail-to-rail outputs. A 3-wire serial interface controls each DAC, simplifying transmission through isolation barriers or to remote locations. Each of the DACs can be simultaneously updated with a different input code. The DACs deliver rail-to-rail voltage outputs over a wide 2.5V to 5.5V supply range. A full-scale transition on one of the LTC2604 DACs causes less than 5uV change in the other DAC; this effectively eliminates crosstalk as a source of error.

The pin-compatible dual DAC family is available in an MSOP-8 package and the quad DACs are available in a SSOP-16 package. All are screened for commercial and industrial temperature ranges. Pricing starts at $4.75 each for the LTC2602 and $9.50 each for the LTC2604 in 1000-piece quantities.
