Test Equipment from Rohde & Schwarz Supports Measurements over Digital I/Q Interfaces

Munich, Jun 20, 2008 - The R&S EX-IQ-Box digital signal inter-face module enables selected Rohde & Schwarz instruments to analyze DUTs over digital I/Q interfaces. When equipped with this module, vector signal generators deliver realistic digital baseband signals for testing transceivers or other components. The module also enables signal analyzers to perform reliable analyses of digital baseband components.

In wireless data transmission, the trend is from analog to digital I/Q interfaces. To meet these changing requirements, Rohde & Schwarz now offers an effective solution: the R&S EX-IQ-Box interface module plus new options for the R&S SMU200A, R&S SMJ100A and R&S AMU200A signal generators as well as for the R&S FSQ, R&S FSG and R&S FMU signal analyzers. This means that the broad scope of functions offered by these instruments can be applied to components with digital I/Q interfaces. Users can thus perform tests on digital baseband chips using the same signals as for testing RF modules, base stations, or wireless devices. This holds true for development and - de-pending on test strategy - also for production. The R&S EX IQ-Box thus sim-plifies comparative analysis and reduces the number of potential error sources.

The R&S SMU200A signal generator offers a good example: When equipped with both the new R&S SMU-B18 digital baseband output option and the R&S EX IQ Box, it can perform receiver measurements on baseband chips with realistic digital baseband signals - including noise and fading. All impor-tant standards such as LTE, HSPA and WiMAX are supported. The R&S FSQ signal analyzer offers another example: When the new R&S FSQ B17 digital baseband interface option is installed, the analyzer can perform reliable transmitter measurements on baseband chips via the R&S EX-IQ-Box.

The R&S EX-IQ-Box module features user-selectable data rates, formats and logic levels - plus a set of breakout boards - as standard equipment. It is easy to adapt it to the device under test. The module is operated via the generator or analyzer to which it is connected - an external PC is not necessary.

The following products are now available from Rohde & Schwarz: the R&S EX IQ Box digital interface module; the R&S SMx-B18 and R&S AMU B18 options for the R&S SMU200A, R&S SMJ100A and R&S AMU200A generators; plus the R&S FSQ-B17 option for the R&S FSQ, R&S FSG and R&S FMU signal analyzers.
