Advantech Launches Its First x86-based Digital Signage Platform - DSA-3300

Irvine, CA, November 30, 2006 - Advantech, a leading ePlatform services provider, expands its digital signage solutions by launching the DSA-3300 series. The DSA-3300 series is an x86 network-manageable digital signage platform that offers high-performance computing with industrial-grade reliability and stability. The compact and low-profile chassis of the DSA-3300 makes it easy to be installed and integrated with different displays.

The Ethernet connectivity of the DSA-3300 provides an effective way to drive purchase intention by enabling content delivery over existing networks to a massive audience. To present versatile media content for maximum advertising impact, the DSA-3300 series is powered by Intel® Celeron® M or Intel Pentium® M processors for smooth playback. The open-platform design of the DSA-3300 series makes it compatible with content editing, scheduling and dispatching software.

The DSA-3300 series conforms to open hardware standards for easy integration with plasma displays, LCD monitors, projectors and networking equipment from multiple vendors. It supports many screen resolutions in landscape, portrait, widescreen (16:9) and standard (4:3) aspect ratios. The DSA-3300 series also provides VGA and DVI outputs for the highest possible image quality on high definition flat panel displays.

The DSA-3300 series has specially designed hardware, BIOS and O.S features for digital signage applications. The recovery API in the BIOS enables the system to reboot, monitor the number of reboots, or show a fixed image while remaining at the BIOS boot stage. The EWF (Enhanced Write Filter) feature of the Microsoft® Windows® XP Embedded OS write-protects selected partitions to ensure the stability of digital signage applications. EWF combined with automatic boot control, and a watchdog timer makes the DSA-3300 more flexible than custom RISC-based architectures while being just as reliable.

There are three models in the DSA-3300 series: a standard model, a wireless LAN integrated model, and a TV-tuner integrated model. The wireless LAN integrated model is ideal where Ethernet wiring is not feasible; the TV-tuner integrate model is suitable for the application site where live TV programs need to be part of the presentation content.
