Heim Data Systems Announces Digital Replay System With High Speed SCSI Interface
Replay systems provide digital-to-digital copying of recorded media
Heim Data Systems, Inc., a leading supplier of data acquisition equipment, introduces its compact, economical digital replay and copy systems, the W Series. It is compatible with Heim Data's A, D and GSR Series digital recorders. These systems record digitally on a variety of media, including DLT Tape, AIT Tape, Hard Disks and Solid State flash memory. Also, W Series systems are compatible with media recorded in both Heim DATaRec and IRIG106 Chapter 10 formats. With a W Series and a recording system working together, digital-to-digital copying of recorded media to like or different media can be achieved for generating working, archival and distribution copies. W Series models are available with single or dual plug-in cartridge receivers with convenient desktop or rack mounting housing.
Data can be transferred to a host computer by connecting the W Series via the integrated SCSI interface and using the FTrans file transfer application, or the media copying application provided along with FTrans. Random access media capable of being recognized by Windows® as a 'drive letter' can transfer data under the control of the host's file manager application. This latter configuration can also provide data over networks. Direct copying to the host hard drive will provide the fastest transfer. In addition, reconstructed real time data can be subsequently obtained from archived files by using the FTrans application and the SCSI input facility of GSR Series replay machines.
