Bosch Introduces 2 Terabyte Hard Drives for its 700 Series Recorders

On-site expansion option offers storage up to 8 terabyte

  • New storage expansion kit available including 2 terabyte hard drive
  • Flexible on-site expansion possibilities up to 8 terabyte of internal storage
  • Front accessible hard drive bays allow storage expansion (and service) without uninstalling the recorder

Bosch Security Systems is introducing a 2 terabyte storage expansion kit for its Divar XF and the new 700 Series Network and Hybrid Digital Recorders, offering the possibility of increasing the internal storage capacity of the recorders up to a maximum of 8 terabyte.

Combined with the system's H.264 compression this means that the system is capable of meeting the requirements of the most demanding CCTV recording environments in terms of retention times and image quality. As an example, the new 700 Network Recorder, which supports up to 32 IP channels, can hold up to 45 days of real-time 24-hour continuous 4CIF recording. The disks, moreover, can operate in RAID-4 configuration which prevents the loss of recorded data if a single hard disk should fail. This optional RAID configuration can be added by simply installing a low-cost software license to any Divar XF or 700 Series Recorder.

The storage expansion kit contains a 2 terabyte hard disk tested and approved by Bosch, screws to mount the hard disk, an Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) wrist band and a quick installation guide. The addition of the new 2 terabyte expansion kit brings the total number of hard-drive expansion kits for the 700 Series to three, including the 500 GB and 1 terabyte kits previously available.

The drives are accessible from the front of the unit for easy servicing and to allow drives to be added or replaced with larger capacity drives without having to uninstall the recorder.

The kits support the latest version of Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology (S.M.A.R.T.). This technology warns a user or system administrator of impending drive failure while there is still time to take preventative action, significantly decreasing the possibility of data loss.
