Digital Pressure Controller calibrates low-pressure gauges.

Press Release Summary:

Model 7250LP incorporates 0-10 in. H2O range and 0-30 in. H2O range into one instrument and maintains set-point pressure to within ±0.0004 in. H2O. In Active mode, unit continuously controls set-point and corrects for small leaks and temperature effects. In Passive mode, user defines upper and lower limits where controller will deactivate once pressure is within limit settings. IEEE-488 and RS-232 interfaces are provided for automation via PC control.

GE Introduces New Low Pressure Digital Pressure Controller

Summary: GE Calibrator Designed for Accurate and Automated Testing/Calibration of Low Pressure, Draft Range Sensors, Gauges and Instruments

New Fairfield, Connecticut - June 4, 2003 - - GE Ruska, a business unit of GE Industrial Systems and the General Electric Company (NYSE: GE) has announced the immediate availability of the Model 7250LP Low Pressure Digital Pressure Calibrator which is specifically designed for calibrating low pressure gauges such as Magnehelic® type gauges, draft range pressure sensors and transducers portable calibrators, and other devices in the inches of water pressure range.

The new 7250LP Series provides a highly accurate method of calibrating low pressure devices by incorporating two ranges into one instrument: a 0 to 10 inH2O range and a 0 to 30 inH2O range with a precision of 0.005% of each range (+/-0.0005 inH2O when using the 10 inH2O range). For draft range devices that measure both positive and negative pressure, the 7250LP can be provided with the negative gauge/vacuum option allowing it to automatically control to both +30 inH2O and -30 in H2O.

In addition to ultimate accuracy, the 7250LP is able to maintain the set-point pressure to within +/-0.0004 inH2O, providing the control stability required to calibrate virtually any low-pressure device. In addition to the 10/30 inH2O range combination, the 7250LP can be provided with internal ranges of 0 to 20 inH2O and 0 to 60 inH2O, or 0 to 35 inH2O and 0 to 100 inH2O. Three different range combinations provide maximum flexibility for any low-pressure calibration application.

The new Model 7250LP is a recent addition to the popular 7250 Digital Pressure Controllers that are available in ranges from 0-5 psi to as high as 0-3000 psi. The Series 7250 can incorporate multiple ranges in one instrument to provide 0.005% of reading performance from 5% to 100% of the instruments range. The Series 7250 represents the 5th generation automated pressure controller from GE Ruska and is the result of over 30 years of customer input, application experience, engineering technology and manufacturing capability.

For ease of use, the 7250LP utilizes an active matrix, full color screen with a large, 6.4 inch Spanish and Chinese. The 7250LP also features two user selectable control modes, Active mode and Passive mode.

In Active mode, the 7250LP will continuously control the set-point and correct for small leaks and temperature effects that may be present in the system. In Passive mode, the user is able to define an upper and lower limit around the set-point where the controller will deactivate once the pressure is within the limit settings. In a leak free and temperature stable system, no additional uncertainty or instability is contributed to the test or calibration.

The 7250LP is supplied with both an IEEE-488 and RS-232 interface for automation via PC control. GE Ruska´s CalManager II software can further assist with complete automation of the calibration process. Or, a user can take advantage of the optional MET/CAL® or LabVIEW® driver. The 7250LP is also provided with a NIST traceable calibration certificate, or Ruska can optionally provide a NVLAP accredited calibration certificate to those companies who require an accredited supplier.

Magnehelic® is registered by Dwyer. MET/CAL® is registered by Fluke.
LabVIEW® is registered by National Instruments.
