New High Resolution Feedback for Harmonica Digital Drive



Windsor, Connecticut - Elmo Motion Control has announced further technological enhancements in the HARmonica product family. A super compact and fully digital unit, the intelligent servo drive is now also available in a version that includes SIN/COS feedback with integrated interpolation. This feature is especially important with direct drive linear motors, where great emphasis is placed on positioning and high servo response.

With maximum current output of 750 watts in a tiny package of 82 x 25.4 x 75 millimeters, the HARmonica is a paradigm shift in size and power efficiency of drive components. It features sinusoidal vector control, trapezoidal vector control, trapezoidal six-step and DC commutation methods. Integrated in the drive is high-efficiency power switching technology aligned with Elmo's fast implementation of the CANopen DS-301 and DSP-402 protocols. The added option of SIN/COS feedback with integrated interpolation answers additional market requirements, providing interpolation with a range of 4x to 4096x, a scaling factor of that can be freely adjusted through the software. This flexible tuning capability ensures that the target resolution matches the drive requirements for very precise and smooth motion at the lowest motor velocities and speeds.
