Digital Cameras feature GigE Vision interface.

Press Release Summary:

Supporting PoE, Manta G-145/30fps delivers 30 images/sec at full 1.4 megapixel resolution, while Manta G-201/30fps is equipped with 2 megapixel CCD sensor and achieves 30 fps. Four turned-head housings enable use in systems where depth clearance is tight. With Look-Up Table in firmware, individual parameters can be recalculated with individually programmable functions. Three transformations per image can be computed concurrently, allowing detailed color inspection in challenging applications.

Allied Vision Technologies Has Re-worked Its Manta Camera Family with New Models, More Housing Variations, New Functions and a Power over Ethernet Interface

Allied Vision Technologies is expanding its best-selling Manta camera series. Alongside two new models, each member of the family is getting new firmware with additional functions as well as a wide selection of modular concept variations, including a GigE Vision interface with Power over Ethernet support.

Manta Offspring: Manta G-145/30fps and G-201/30fps

Manta already offers the broadest product palette within its market segment today. Now, two further models are expanding the camera family for applications for which framerate is paramount. The Manta G-145/30fps is based on the already well-known Manta G-145, but it delivers 30 images per second at full resolution (1.4 megapixels) - twice as many as its sister model. The Manta G-201/30fps is similar: like the Manta G-201, it's equipped with a 2-megapixel CCD sensor, but instead of 14, it achieves a full 30 fps (frames per second).

Expanded modular concept, now with Power over Ethernet, too

Alongside the well-known board version (Board Level) and the white medical design, additional optional hardware variants from the AVT modular concept are now available. Four different turned-head housings ease fitting the camera into systems where depth clearance is tight. Also new is the Power over Ethernet (PoE) interface. This Gigabit Ethernet interface enables the implementation of so-called "single cable solutions" within the Manta family, since power is delivered via the data cable. By eliminating the camera-end power supply, installation complexities and costs within distances of up to 100 meters can be greatly reduced.

All optional hardware variants from the modular concept, including PoE, are available for all Manta models.

New firmware with expanded functions

Effective immediately, all AVT Manta cameras will have new firmware with many additional functions for even better camera control, camera adjustment, and image processing. The Look-Up Table - LUT - merits particular mention. Using this AVT Smart Feature, individual image parameters can be recalculated with individually programmable functions. With the Manta's new Look-Up Table function, three transformations per image can be computed concurrently, such as the three color channels (red, green and blue) in color cameras, which for example can be individually adapted. This function allows for much more detailed color inspection in challenging applications such as following trails of evidence in forensics or in other scientific applications.

This new firmware will be installed, effective immediately, in all delivered cameras in the Manta family. All existing Manta models can be updated with this new firmware as needed and can benefit from these new features.

With more versions, more modularity and expanded functionality, the AVT Manta camera series offers the widest selection and an outstanding price-to-performance ratio in the entry-level GigE Vision market segment.
