World's First Coolant-Proof Digital Caliper Now Available in 6" and 8" Models with SPC Output
Mitutoyo has added innovations to its Absolute Coolant-Proof Caliper. The revolutionary electronic caliper now has SPC output capability (an SPC cable is optional) and is also now available in an 8" as well as the original 6" model. Both models have sealed housings rated IP-65, indicating effective immunity to the coolants, dirt, grit and chips found in harsh manufacturing environments. The IP (International Protection) rating system is a function of the International Electrotechnical Commission that standardizes the classes of environmental protection for industrial equipment.
The value of the Absolute Coolant-Proof Caliper lies in its ability to work in harsh machine shop environments where dirt, grit, oil and heavy coolant spray pose hazards to ordinary electronic gages. The coolant-proof capability has added value for field applications where weather and natural moisture may be factors.
Other features of the Absolute Coolant-Proof Caliper include Mitutoyo's patented Absolute Encoder Technology, which allows the gage to retain its Origin Point and other settings even after power has been turned off. This feature saves set-up time since the gage does not have to be reset with each use. It also improves operator confidence.
Additionally, these calipers are immune to overspeed error and have a long battery life of 1.5 years under normal use.
An Automatic Power On/Off function also helps to conserve battery life. Measurements are displayed on a large (.3") LCD and can be switched between inch and metric mode with the touch of a button. Measuring range of the 6" model of the Absolute Coolant-Proof Caliper is 0-6"/0-150mm with resolution of .0005"/0.0lmm and accuracy of +/-.001". The 8" model has a measuring range of 0-8"/0-200mm with resolution of .0005"/0.0lmm and accuracy of +/-.002".
