Ametek Introduces Alpha Mega Benchtop Digital Alpha Spectrometer for Large Samples

Oak Ridge, TN—The ORTEC Products Group of AMETEK Advanced Measurement Technology (AMT) has introduced the Alpha Mega, a fully integrated, digital alpha spectrometer for environmental laboratories and counting room applications requiring large sample size analysis capability.

“The Alpha Mega is the latest addition to AMT’s AlphaSuite line of products and can accommodate filter samples up to 4.18 inches (106 mm) in diameter, which are often used in ambient air sampling.  This is particularly useful for emergency response in the event of an airborne release.” notes ORTEC product manager Jeremy Whorton. “Having a larger chamber to match the size of the filters saves valuable time in the lab for the technician”.

The Alpha Mega was designed to easily integrate into the Alpha Ensemble modular system.  The Alpha Ensemble may be configured with up to four modules in any combination of Alpha Mega (single chamber) or Alpha Duo (dual chamber) spectrometers.

The Alpha Mega and Alpha Duo can be easily interchanged within the Ensemble both for versatility and for ease of repair.

All AlphaSuite spectrometers require vacuum, power and a connection to a PC. The preamplifier, HV supply, calibration pulse and preamplifier are computer controlled. The Alpha Mega ships complete with MAESTRO MCA Emulation Software. For comprehensive analysis software, ORTEC offers AlphaVision 6.0 Alpha Spectrometry Management Software, which is compatible with all AlphaSuite products.
