New Diffuse Reflectance Probe Facilitates Large-Scale Biomass Analysis by Near-IR Spectroscopy



TUSTIN, Calif., November 10, 2009 - Axiom Analytical, Inc. has announced its fiber-optic coupled FDR-1835 Diffuse Reflectance Probe specifically designed for harsh field use in the large-scale sampling of wood chips and other biomass materials. When coupled by means of fiber-optics to a suitable near-infrared spectrometer, it facilitates the measurement of moisture content and material composition prior to chemical processing. The probes extremely robust construction makes it suitable for mounting on a large robotic structure for forced insertion into piles of scrap material. The probe is approximately 75 mm in diameter and is available in lengths up to 3 meters.

The FDR-1835 joins Axiom's comprehensive line of diffuse reflectance probes for the near-IR and UV-Visible analysis in applications ranging from the measurement of chemical composition of emulsions and polymer slurries to pharmaceutical blending and drying.
