Differential Shafts rewind low-tension material rolls.

Press Release Summary:

With tension control as low as 0.1 PLI, Equalizer - D4 allows converters to run ultra-thin films. Its 2-row, 12-ball, torque-activated, core-lock design ensures equalized tension across any combination of roll widths. Equalizer - D2 is suited for repeated slit-width runs with operator-positioned, toolless core stops that can be set and retained through multiple runs, while Equalizer - D3 is suited for repeated or varying slit width runs with automatically positioned core stops.

Original Press Release:

Differential Shaft Designs Improve Roll Quality

Camas, WA-Tidland Corporation introduces the new D4 differential shaft to provide unmatched finished roll quality, and enhancements to existing D2 and D3 models to reduce set-up time. Each model in the Equalizer series of differential shafts offers unique features to eliminate dust or reduce setup time, leading to increased profitability when rewinding multiple rolls of low-tension material.

The Equalizer - Model D4 Differential shaft represents the latest technology for converting dust-free rolls with superior structure. Precise control of tension as low as 0.1 PLI allows converters to run ultra-thin films common in today's converting environment. A unique, two-row, 12-ball, torque activated core-lock design insures equalized tension across any combination of roll widths.

Tidland has also enhanced their existing line of core-slip differential air shafts to provide tension equalization across any combination of roll widths. The Equalizer - Model D2 is ideal for repeated slit-width runs with operator-positioned, toolless core stops that can be set and retained through multiple runs. The Model D3 is ideal for repeated or varying slit width runs with automatically positioned core stops.

"Converters can now choose the level of control that is necessary to produce quality rolls and deliver profit." explains Sean Craig, Product Manager for Tidland Corporation, "Each shaft design allows converters to take a proactive approach to addressing issues that are specific to the materials their customers require."

When implemented properly, differential winding techniques can help converters to increase operation efficiency and profitability. To many converters, perfecting the process of tension equalization across multiple rolls is an overwhelming task. Converters who would like to gain a better understanding of the theory of differential winding can take advantage of Tidland's expertise on the subject by attending free e-seminars presented by Tidland or fee-based industry seminars such as the CEMA/AIMCAL Slitter/Rewinder Seminars.
