Dimas Introduces Diesel-Powered Saw Designed for Large Jobs

OLATHE, Kan. - Specifically intended for large applications, the new Dimas FS 8700 D flat saw combines the advantages of diesel power with an easy-to-use, low-maintenance design.

Featuring an 87-horsepower, Deutz 4-cylinder, turbo-charged diesel engine, the FS 8700 D offers better fuel economy, greater torque and a longer engine life than gas-powered options. Equipped with a 2-speed hydrostatic transmission, the unit is capable of infinitely variable travel speeds up to 220 feet per minute.

The FS 8700 D offers one-hand operation through a single-lever speed and blade-raise and - lower control. A switch-activated, positive-depth stop controls the blade depth, ensuring a more accurate and precise cut. Additionally, the blade drive disengagement system (with electric clutch) allows the engine to run without blade rotation, making it easier to transport and position the saw on the job site.

The FS 8700 D includes several maintenance-saving characteristics. The in-line motor is mounted at a right angle to the gearbox, reducing engine stress and minimizing side load. The blade shaft is driven by a dependable 16 V-belt configuration. Zinc-plated, dual multiple-jet water spray tubes provide ample coolant to the blades. Additionally, the totally sealed blade shaft assembly is virtually maintenance free.

Available with six different blade options, the FS 8700 D has a blade guard capacity range of 18 to 60 inches, delivering a maximum depth of cut between 6.5 and 25 inches deep. Blade guards can be mounted on both sides of the saw, allowing for both right- and left-side cutting.
