Original Press Release:

New Continuity Test Mode Provides Point to Point Continuity Tests and Hipot Tests at Voltages up to 5,000 Volts

Lake Forest, Illinois, Aug. 2003 - Associated Research announced today the addition of a new continuity test mode to their HypotULTRA® III family of Dielectric Analyzers. HypotULTRA III consists of two different models, the 7620, which is a 5 KVC AC Hipot Tester and the 7650, which is a 5 KV AC and DC Hipot tester with a built-in Insulation Resistance tester. Both models include an optional built-in 4 or 8 port scanner. This new continuity test mode allows the HypotUTLRA III to perform both multi-point or point to point continuity tests and hipot tests at voltages up to 5,000 volts. The HypotULTRA III is unique because it is the only Hipot tester on the market with this capability. Previously manufacturers were forced to rely on custom built systems to perform these tests. This new continuity test mode is designed to be performed through the internal scanning matrix. This automates the test in that measurement points are changed via the scanner. It also provides for an unlimited number of points to be tested. This test mode is ideal for manufacturers of heating elements, cable harnesses, and aerospace cables.

The HypotULTRA III also features a test mode that will perform a simultaneous ground continuity test along with the hipot test. This test mode is designed to provide a basic continuity test to be performed on the safety ground circuit as required by many safety agencies. This test mode is ideal for Appliance manufacturers along with other manufacturers, who have a basic safety ground circuit test requirement.

In addition to the Dual Continuity Test mode, HypotULTRA III contains many advanced technologies and features. These include, the patented SmartGFI® Safety Circuit, the VERI-CHEK® feature, the CAL-ALERT® feature, an exclusive prompt and hold feature, electronic ramping, multiple memories, real current measurement and a digitally controlled arc detection system.
