Eklin Medical Adds Two New RapidView(TM) Workstation Options for Key Component of Eklin Digital Practice(TM)

SANTA CLARA, Calif., May 3 / -- Eklin Medical Systems, a leader in digital radiography (DR), PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) and Practice Information Management (PIMS) software for the veterinary care market, announced the company has added two new options to its RapidView(TM) diagnostic workstation product line. The new additions include the RapidView 2GSi, for detailed radiographic studies, and the RapidView SD-1C, designed especially for client education. Other options for diagnostic review are Eklin's high-resolution, grayscale RapidView 3GS and color RapidView 2C workstations.

"We believe, as part of the Eklin Digital Practice(TM), that our expanded line of viewing options helps meet the vast majority of our customers' practice diagnostic and educational review needs," said Gary R. Cantu, president and CEO of Eklin. "From convenient, low cost exam room workstations to those supporting complex diagnostic reviews, our customers should be able to find a RapidView workstation which is right for them."

Just as digital cameras have made photography more efficient by eliminating film, the Eklin RapidStudy DR system provides the veterinarian with a radiographic image that can be viewed immediately on a high-resolution monitor without need for film developing. The Eklin DR system also offers sophisticated image processing tools, giving the veterinarian much greater depth of information that can be enlarged or manipulated for far better detail. Eklin offers either a 9"x11" sensor panel or the industry's only full- size 14"x17" sensor panel. Images can be stored and archived for future evaluation using the Eklin PACS, which is based on DICOM standards used by hospitals and clinics around the world. In addition, medical records, lab results, billing, financial statements and other pertinent patient or practice information is available with Eklin's VIA(TM) PIMS.

"We are constantly talking to our customers about practice efficiencies," said Cantu. "Our customers indicate that quick access to diagnostic image review, plus viewing options designed to provide specific clinical, economic and educational solutions, would significantly help them in optimizing their workflow. And, of extreme importance, our customers want to integrate and view other digital modality images as well. To that end, all of the RapidView options are fully DICOM 3.0 compliant."

RapidView Color Diagnostic Workstation Options

The RapidView SD-1C was specifically designed to provide an economical educational tool for individual exam rooms or other client education areas within the practice. The low cost, color monitor (17") and compact server can temporarily store up to 4,000 radiographic images before the need to archive these images into the PACS. For greater diagnostic detail, the RapidView 2C is an economical workstation with a higher resolution 19" monitor. The 2C can temporarily store up to 8,000 images. This is an ideal replacement for film and is used primarily in general practice environments.

RapidView Grayscale Diagnostic Workstation Options

The RapidView 2GSi is designed to meet the needs of both general and specialty radiography practices. The 20.1" grayscale monitor has eight bit resolution with 256 levels of gray and a contrast ratio of 1,000:1. It temporarily stores up to 8,000 radiographic images. With a 20.8" monitor, the RapidView 3GS is ideal for those practices needing outstanding study details. Using a contrast ratio of 600:1, the 3GS has a 10 bit resolution with 1,024 levels of gray. Both the RapidView 2GSi and 3GS workstations support an optional second monitor.
