Small Submersible Dewatering Pump Recommended for Municipal and Commercial Wastewater Applications

A high-performance cast iron submersible pump designed for handling both groundwater and wastewater has been introduced by ITT Flygt Corp., Trumbull, CT. Designated as model 3068, the pump can deliver up to 260 GPM, and the maximum head is 100 ft. Model 3068 is available in three configurations:

o with a closed, 2 vane solids handling impeller for most wastewater and groundwater applications;
o with a vortex impeller that reduces abrasive wear and minimizes clogging caused by passing large or stringy solids;
o chopper version, with Ni hard impeller and cutter plate, capable of handling solids, fibrous materials, heavy sludge and other matter found in normal sewage applications.

The model 3068 is available in 230 V single-phase and 208/230/460/575 V three-phase versions, and is rated 2.3 HP and 2 HP (single phase) and 2.4 to 3.8 HP (three phase). Model 3068 can be mounted on guide rails in deep sumps for quick installation and removal, or fitted with a threaded pipe discharge connection and remain stationary on the floor in a sump. It has standard 2" or 3" NPT discharge connections, and is supplied with a 30 ft. power cable.

The pump features two independent mechanical seals running in FDA approved non-toxic lubricant. Silicon carbide or abrasion resistant tungsten carbide seal faces are available. A class F insulated motor, operating in air, is safer, more efficient, and easier to service than oil-filled motors. The motor can deliver up to 15 starts per hour, and its shaft, closely coupled with the impeller, provides reliable, quiet, vibration-free operation.
