Reell Introduces PS-100 Position Hinge for Heavy Devices and Long Moment Arm Applications
The new PS-100 Position Hinge from Reell Precision Manufacturing enables precise and sustained positioning of heavy devices and end-products with long moment arms, such as trays, displays, control panels, keypads and keyboards, and armrests, among many other similarly demanding position-control applications across industries. The PS-100 hinge allows for infinite positioning with full 360º range of motion, reliably maintains a selected position for as long as necessary, easily adjusts, and ultimately delivers ideal performance over time with an unprecedented qualified service life of 50,000 cycles.
The PS-100 Position Hinge features a compact axial package offering especially high torque (7.0 N-m to 11.5 N-m / 61.9 lb-in to 101.8 lb-in) in increments of 1.5 N-m / 13.2 lb-in. The hinge is currently engineered with symmetric torque (the same torque in both directions) and will additionally be available later in the year with patent pending “One-way” torque (high torque in one direction with virtually no torque in the other).
The hinge further benefits from patented ReellTorq® clip technology for a premium-quality smooth feel without slipdown or slip stick. In the PS-100 design, the clips – providing a constant frictional resistance – have been purposely designed around a hollow tube. The hinge then can be easily press-fit over an application’s shaft and, in the case of hollow shafts, provides a value-added capability for unobstructed wire-pass.
