Arcom Now Offers Ready-to-Run Windows® XP Embedded Support for the 1GHz Pentium III 'OLYMPUS' Embedded PC


4th November, 2002 - Arcom, Kansas City and Cambridge England, a Microsoft Gold level Windows Embedded Partner, today announced another rapid application Development Kit for Windows XP Embedded. The new product is a ready-to-run Development Kit for Windows XP Embedded running on Arcom's Socket370 Pentium III based single board computer.

Arcom's Development Kit strategy lets customers quickly develop and demonstrate Windows XP Embedded based applications using a reliable embedded platform suitable for OEM applications. You don't even need to use Target Designer to build an operating system image, you just download your application and go!

The OLYMPUS Windows XP Embedded Development Kit includes a comprehensive build of Windows XP Embedded loaded onto a 384Mbyte CompactFlash card. The Development Kit consists of the OLYMPUS single board computer fitted with a 533MHz Intel Celeron CPU (other options available), 256Mbytes SDRAM, 384Mbytes of CompactFlash memory, PSU, serial and Ethernet cable sets, DVI interface board, Quickstart Manual and the Development Kit Utility CD. There is also an option for a 6.5" NEC VGA TFT color display, analog touchscreen and touchscreen controller. Also included is the Windows XP Embedded license and, for a limited time only, a free copy of Microsoft's Visual Studio .NET Professional edition CD worth over $1000.

The OLYMPUS is an EBX format (5.75" x 8") Socket370 single board computer, which can be fitted with the Intel Celeron and Pentium III processors up to 1GHz (133MHz FSB). The board also offers high performance S3 ProSavage graphics, 10/100baseTx Ethernet, four serial ports, and expansion via a PCI slot, CompactFlash socket and industry standard PC/104.
