RadiSys and VirtualLogix Partner to Deliver High Performance, Real-Time Multicore Development Kit

Joint Solution Enables Embedded Systems Designers to Combine Linux, OS-9 on Single Platform

NUREMBURG, Germany, Feb. 13 // -- RadiSys Corporation (NASDAQ:RSYS) and VirtualLogix(TM), Inc., the Real-Time Virtualization(TM) company, today announced a partnership to deliver a high-performance, real- time development kit using multicore systems based on Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo processors. The RadiSys Multicore Development Kit, which includes RadiSys' OS- 9 real-time operating system and real-time virtualization software from VirtualLogix, provides embedded systems designers with the software tools and real-time operating systems they need to develop innovative multicore-based designs on RadiSys Procelerant(TM) COM Express solutions, embedded servers and motherboards.

"Our multicore Procelerant solution, coupled with VirtualLogix real-time virtualization software, enable designers to improve performance, reduce power consumption and consolidate multiple single core designs," said Wade Clowes, vice president of the Commercial Market for RadiSys. "RadiSys and VirtualLogix have taken the lead by eliminating both the hardware and software barriers these designers encountered. RadiSys is the first vendor to provide a complete hardware and software solution for multicore based-designs, providing our customers with a single point of contact and eliminating the system integration issues that result from dealing with multiple independent vendors."

The trend towards multi-core processors represent tremendous opportunity for consolidation and cost reduction for embedded systems designers; however, innovative software solutions are needed to capture the benefits, said Mark Milligan, vice president of marketing for VirtualLogix. "With VirtualLogix's VLX virtualization software, multiple operating systems can run concurrently on a single hardware platform, while maintaining real-time performance and high I/O throughput. We are pleased to partner with RadiSys to deliver the multi-OS, multicore development kit to customers.

The RadiSys Multicore Development Kit runs on Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo processors, which are well suited for numerous applications including networking equipment, interactive clients (i.e., point-of-sale terminals and ATMs), gaming platforms, industrial control and automation, digital security surveillance and medical imaging.

"Based on Intel(R) Core(TM) microarchitecture, the Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo processors that support the joint RadiSys and VirtualLogix solution help to meet the needs of a wide range of performance intensive, low-power embedded applications in smaller form factors," said Joe Jensen, general manager, Modular Platforms and Programs, Intel. "The Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo processors were designed from the ground up to deliver the best system level overall performance per watt."
