PMD Introduces New PCI Motion Control Developer's Kit

Lexington, MA - Performance Motion Devices, Inc. (PMD), a pioneer in the development of chip-based motion control, announces their new Motion Control Developer's Kit for the PCI bus. The Developer's Kit (DK) includes a PCI motion control board with a PMD Pilot or Navigator chipset, appropriate cables, manuals, and a CD-ROM with PMD's C-Motion(TM) Library and Pro-Motion(TM) graphical user interface. Using the DK, design engineers can evaluate and develop with the Navigator multi-axis motion control chipset or the Pilot single-axis motion control chip for brushed, brushless, stepper, and microstepper applications. The price of the PCI Developer's Kit is $995.

The full feature set of the Navigator(TM) and Pilot(TM) chip-level products is supported by the Developer's Kit, including an advanced PID filter, s-curve, electronic gearing, limit switches and I/O per axis. The PCI DK with the Navigator MC2340 chipset installed, for example, can control up to four axes of brushless motors and provide on-board commutation for each axis. Multiple Developer Kit PCI Boards can be installed and synchronized to within 10us.

Pro-Motion(TM) provides an easy way to program the PCI DK using dialog boxes and point-and-click functionality. Jeff Johnson, Engineering Manager at PMD, explains, "The graphical display of user-selected parameters simplifies the tuning of a motor, and the scripting feature provides the flexibility to develop your
application."

Full documentation and technical specifications are available online at www.pmdcorp.com. Applications and technical support are available from PMD throughout the life of the project.

PMD's motion processors excel in applications where fast, smooth, synchronized motion is required. These applications include medical equipment, materials handling, semiconductor manufacturing, and industrial automation and robotics. The PMD PCI Developer's Kit is available for immediate delivery.
