Developer's Kit Enables High Performance Motor Controllers

Lincoln, MA - Performance Motion Devices, Inc. announces the NEW MC73110 Brush less Motor Control IC Developer's Kit (DK73110). This integrated board and software package allows designers to evaluate and use PMD's Motor Control ICs while shortening the design time for engineers who are interested in building high-performance brushless DC motor controllers.

The MC73110 Developer's Kit provides the user with a platform with which an application can be developed, motors can be tested, and software can be verified. It exercises all features of the MC73110 Motor Control IC, drives a 3-phase, single-axis brushless motor at up to 10 amps, inputs analog or digital command signals, and accepts a single voltage high-power input. It can also be used to develop a custom amplifier using external high-power switching circuits.

The board comes with the MC73110 Motor Control IC installed. This intelligent single-axis controller provides software-programmable current, velocity, and commutation control for brushless DC motors. The MC73110 IC operates in one of three modes: internal profile, velocity, or torque. It also provides six-step and sinusoidal commutation, analog or digital command input, velocity profile generation and six-signal symmetric PWM waveform generation.

The kit consists of a single-axis, surface mount card, interconnection cables, and a CD-ROM containing software and documentation. Included on the CD-ROM is PMD's C-Motion® Application Programming Interface (API), which can be used to write user applications with standard C and C++ language commands. The developer's kit also includes PMD's Pro-Motion® GUI, an easy-to-use Windows®-based program that allows the user to exercise the motor hardware. The DK73110 is available now for $495.00.
