Motorola Launches MOTODEV: The Developer Network for the Business of Innovation

Integrated developer resources combine access to Motorola-wide tools and technical support to accelerate developer success, foster business ecosystem and extend Seamless Mobility vision

SUNNYVALE, Calif., May 8 / -- Motorola (NYSE:MOT) today announced the launch of MOTODEV: a unified developer experience featuring a web-based program and business ecosystem. MOTODEV is designed to make it easier and more rewarding for developers around the world to innovate with Motorola, its products and technologies.

MOTODEV will combine Motorola's existing developer initiatives -- beginning with MOTOCODER, iDEN and Horizon -- into one seamless web site resource, giving developers simple access to virtually all things MOTO (from mobile devices to digital set-tops). This coordinated approach will help foster innovation in application development and delivery by connecting developers with the resources they need most -- tools, SDKs, and clearly defined go-to-market initiatives. And, with information and resources for a variety of products at their fingertips, developers can easily tap into new business opportunities and apply their talent across the full range of Motorola platforms.

Through MOTODEV, Motorola also aims to create a broader business ecosystem including developers, service providers, and business and channel allies. Together, members of MOTODEV can grow and manage new business opportunities by driving application development for multiple environments -- work, home, recreation and on-the-go. MOTODEV members will be able to speed the pace of innovation and create new channels for differentiation and revenue.

"Compelling user experiences are what win in today's marketplace and innovative software is the key," said Ed Zander, Chairman and CEO, Motorola, Inc. "With MOTODEV, Motorola is creating a clear path to innovation for developers and our key allies. By leveraging company-wide technical and business assets, Motorola is creating new opportunities for unparalleled creativity and return on investment."

Motorola will rollout the MOTODEV developer experience in a phased approach over the next several months. The first phase, unveiled today, includes the launch of a new Web portal where developers can enjoy a "One Motorola" experience through an intuitive new interface and simplified program functions. Upcoming phases will introduce new business service resources to help developers build and market their applications, including richer technical resources and expanded business programs via a robust open development community.
