FreeWave Releases Developer Kits for MM2 TTL Radios

New developer kits allow integrators and OEMs to easily modify and customize wireless radios for their specific applications

BOULDER, Colo., July 21 -- FreeWave Technologies, the largest independent provider of high performance spread spectrum and licensed radio products and services in the industry, today announced the release of developer kits for its MM2 TTL and the MM2-IP radios. The kits are designed to provide easy-to-use tools for assessing the radios and testing the capabilities by OEMs in the many industrial applications. Included in each kit are two fully tested radios, all required cabling, manuals and documentation, and an interface board that converts the radios' native TTL data port to a RS-232 mode for ease of programming and connection to a personal computer.

The Ethernet version in the developer kit also uses an interface board to provide access to the native port. In this case, the user access is through a standard RJ-45 connector.

"These kits are designed to make it simple and painless to assess and install MM2 radios," explained Colin Lippincott, FreeWave spokesperson. "We believe the kits will provide users with everything they need to ensure that their radios can be thoroughly tested and that they perform to the fullest potential."

The MM2 900 MHz Series is a mini radio that is fully compatible with FreeWave's 900 MHz serial and Ethernet radios such as the FGR and FGRplus. The MM2 radios have such features as a 3.0-5.0 VDC operating voltage, multiple interface options and a temperature range from -40 degrees to +85 degrees Celsius. Also included are high noise immunity, signal performance and selectable speeds. The two radios included in the developer kit are mounted on TTL to RS232 conversion boards or TTL to Ethernet conversion boards. They are designed to be easily used at the bench or to take to the field for outdoor testing.

Pricing and Availability
FreeWave's Developer Kit for the MM2 TTL is available for shipment now. Pricing begins at $795. The IP Developer Kit is priced at $895. Field durable cases are available for an additional $100.
