Dethon EMS Partners with DEK for Comprehensive Printing Solutions and Support

Dethon Industrie, a Netherlands-based manufacturer of products for multiple markets including electronics, has chosen DEK as its printing partner, leveraging the advanced technology of the DEK Horizon 03iX print platform as well as the company's full suite of stencils and process support products.
Distinguished among EMS providers in Holland, Dethon is a government-sponsored company that provides work opportunity for disabled people. In total, Dethon employs 1,000 staff and its EMS business has 100 full-time employees.  Prior to its purchase of a new DEK Horizon 03iX, Dethon utilized a previous-generation DEK platform but the installation of a high-speed pick and place system necessitated a faster, more accurate printer.
"We manufacture advanced printed circuit assemblies for use in a variety of end markets including LED lighting, navigation systems, and industrial applications, among others," explains Dethon Managing Director, Gijs van den Berg. "We needed a very fast, very precise screen and stencil printer and, after evaluating several suppliers, decided on DEK. In our opinion, it is the ‘Rolls Royce' of print platforms."
In addition to the proven performance of the Horizon 03iX, Dethon's selection of DEK also hinged on the printing leader's delivery of local support and excellent service.  "Certainly the machine's ability to provide a highly stable process with exceptional tolerances was critical, as we are working with 0.4 mm CSPs, 0402s and are testing 0201s," says van den Berg. "But also important was the fact that DEK local distributor Partnertec can supplement the DEK expertise and support – and in our native language."
Dethon understands the importance of good printer inputs to ensure optimal results and is therefore also using DEK stencils, understencil cleaning chemistry and fabric. "When you have excellent support from a supplier, there is tremendous value in that. For us, reliability of the products and company dependability are essential and, frankly, the process results speak for themselves," explains van den Berg, noting the much better yields and over 20% production efficiency improvement Dethon has realized since partnering with DEK and its new placement machine supplier.  "DEK's holistic approach to the printing process – their team's complete understanding of all of the elements – has and continues to be a huge advantage for our business. While Dethon is government-sponsored, we do compete with the private sector and our world-class production systems make us extremely competitive in the dynamic electronics industry.
