Original Press Release:

Fujitsu Introduces New Wireless Scanning Functionality for the ScanSnap iX500 Desktop Scanner

Customers Now Have the Ability to Scan to Their Computer Without the Need for a USB Cord

SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Fujitsu, the market leader in document imaging scanners, today introduced a new software update for its latest ScanSnap scanner, the iX500, giving customers the ability to wirelessly scan(1) documents to a PC or Mac, expanding the capabilities of its built-in Wi-Fi connectivity. ScanSnap iX500 customers already have the capability to scan directly to their Android(TM) and iOS compatible devices(2), and now have the freedom to "cut the cord" from their computer without losing any of the ScanSnap iX500's advanced scanning functionality, adding a whole new level of scanning convenience.

With wireless connectivity, customers can place the ScanSnap iX500 away from their computer, such as in the kitchen or a different room in the office, and still utilize all of the scanners' intelligent and powerful scanning tools, just as if they were connected via USB. That means users can create PDF files at speeds of up to 25 double-sided color pages per minute (300dpi, color)( 3) and scan just as they normally do from just about anywhere in the home or office.

New and current ScanSnap iX500 customers will soon see an online update notification from ScanSnap Manager that will take them through the step-by-step process to create an optional wireless connection between ScanSnap iX500 and their computer using their existing wireless router. They can also check for an update manually using the ScanSnap help menu.
