Ault Incorporated Announces 6-12-Watt Wide-Range External Power Supply Family

MINNEAPOLIS - April 3, 2002 - Ault Incorporated, a leading North American manufacturer of external power conversion products (Nasdaq: AULT), today announced the introduction of its new 6-12-watt universal switch-mode power supply family, the PW117.

The CE-compliant, desktop-style PW117 is available in nine models, ranging from 3 to 48 volts with input voltage of 100VAC to 240VAC. Users may choose from two configurations: one with an IEC320-C14 (with ground); the second with an IEC320-C8 (no ground). Each model in the family complies with EMI/RFI regulations.

Measuring 3.35 (L) x 1.81 (W) x 1.30 (H) inches (85.0 (L) x 46.0 (W) x 33.0 (H) millimeters), the PW117 is compact and lightweight at only 4.8 ounces (136 grams). To reduce product design-to-safety approval cycle time, the PW117 family has TUV EN60950, UL1950, CSA950, Australian Approval and MITI T-Mark safety approval ratings.

The product will be priced based on volume requirements and desired customer modifications.

The PW117 family at 6-12 watts meets the needs of OEMs in a broad range of applications. In the data communications/telecommunications market, the latest applications include DSL/cable modems, network hubs and print servers. For the industrial market, 6-12 watts powers food scales, air sampling equipment, lottery ticket machines and time clocks. The PW117 also meets the needs of the latest wireless products, including Bluetooth, PDAs and data loggers.

"The PW117 is a great addition for Ault because it provides customers with an attractive alternative to linear power supplies," stated Greg Harris, vice president, business development, Ault Inc. "The PW117 is a low-cost, wide-range switch mode power supply. It goes head-to-head with linears on price, while providing wide range so it can be used around the world, reducing the number of SKUs of our OEM partners."

Ault is the largest independent manufacturer of power conversion products based in North America. The company is the leading supplier to OEMs in the datacom/telecom convergence market, which includes DSL and cable modems, wireline and wireless communications equipment, medical equipment and networking hardware.
