Liquidware Labs Stratusphere v4.8 Now Available with Massive, Easy Scalability

Stratusphere now scales to enterprises with a single hub, reports IOPS metrics per application, and includes expanded application virtualization reports

ATLANTA, -- Liquidware Labs, the leader in desktop transformation, today announced the availability of Liquidware Labs Stratusphere v4.8. Significant product updates include a tenfold increase in scalability per database hub, application IOPS reports, and expanded application virtualization reporting.

Liquidware Labs Stratusphere is the leading VDI assessment, planning, and user experience monitoring platform for implementing and managing virtual desktop infrastructure such as VMware View and Citrix XenDesktop. The solution is widely used by end-users organizations, channel partners, OEM partners, and consultant systems engineers at platform leaders such as VMware, Citrix, Dell, EMC, and Cisco. The solution is touted as the VDI On-Ramp by analysts and is instrumental in assessing, planning, validating POC (Proof of Concept) environments, and shortening the time to full scale production environments.

Stratusphere v4.8 now features the ability to scale to more than 10,000 desktops with a single Stratusphere Hub. More specifically, Stratusphere is now able to leverage a single database server to gather metrics for enterprise implementations. The advancement represents a tenfold increase in performance scaling and the number of desktops supported per hub covers 99% of known VDI implementations in the world today.

"It's now easier than ever to assess and monitor user experience even in the largest VDI deployments. From the biggest banks on Wall Street to the largest retailers and home improvement companies in the world, Stratusphere continues to be the go to solution to provide the best view of all related desktop infrastructure and for gauging application use and complexity for application virtualization," said J. Tyler Rohrer, founder, Liquidware Labs. "We're pleased to add streamlined scaling above 10,000 users, expanded reports, and expanded monitoring for our customers and to support the platforms who have standardized on Stratusphere(TM) in the field- namely VMware, Citrix, Dell, EMC, NetApp, and Cisco."

Stratusphere works by gathering assessment and performance metrics data at all integral levels of a virtual desktop infrastructure from usage data, to application usage, to desktop performance, to data center performance. The in-depth nature of Stratusphere necessitates that large amounts of data be collected over time for detailed reporting from a central database repository. The new ease of enterprise scalability streamlines the process of installing and using Stratusphere for large implementations.

Stratusphere now also has the ability to gather IOPS (Input/Output Operations Per Second) metrics on a per application basis. Knowing IOPS per application is integral to planning and troubleshooting VDI implementations because of performance issues caused by IOPS traffic. The solution can now report on applications using the most IO, more specifically read rate, write rate, read/write IOPS are now detected and reported by Stratusphere. Often application IOPS in VDI environments cause performance bottlenecks when they access storage. Knowing which applications are creating IO storms can greatly help administrators streamline the design and performance of their VDI environments.

Stratusphere v4.8 also features expanded reports, including Application Virtualization Targets and Application Virtualization Candidates for ThinApp. These reports now take into account applications using Shell extensions and DCOM. The enhanced reports also now filter out system applications and services, allowing Stratusphere administrators to focus only on user applications when considering applications to be virtualized.

Stratusphere's assessment feature set has also been updated. The additions include Stratusphere's ability to:

-- Assess the size of user authored data on local desktops, used for determining VDI storage sizing

-- Measure GPU (Graphical Processing Units) per machine, used to help determine graphics capability

-- Detection and reporting of locally installed printers, used to help determine VDI complexity
