ANSYS Inc. Introduces DesignXplorer

New Software Features Parametric Design Capabilities and Instantaneous Design Feedback

CANONSBURG, Pa., April 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- ANSYS Inc. (Nasdaq: ANSS), the global innovator of simulation software and technologies designed to optimize product development processes, today introduced the latest in innovative simulation-based software solutions -- DesignXplorer(TM).

DesignXplorer provides product designers and engineers dynamic interaction with the design envelope. Utilizing advanced parametric control, DesignXplorer provides instantaneous feedback on all proposed design modifications in the design process, significantly decreasing the time needed to perform design iterations. An easy-to-use graphical user interface coupled with speed and accuracy will empower product teams to make more informed decisions earlier in the design process. DesignXplorer enables more cost-effective and robust designs early in the product development process by facilitating quick and easy "what-if" studies.

DesignXplorer also enables the user to study, quantify and graph various structural and thermal performance simulation responses as a function of design parameters for parts as well as assemblies, incorporating both traditional and non-traditional optimization algorithms through a goal-driven approach. This innovative approach allows consideration of multiple designs and helps optimize designs for new conditions more quickly and efficiently.

Like other AI*Workbench(TM)-based applications, DesignXplorer offers bi-directional associativity with leading CAD packages such as Autodesk Inventor and Mechanical Desktop, SolidEdge, Unigraphics, Pro/ENGINEER and SolidWorks. AI*Workbench from ANSYS Inc. is a component-based development platform that allows easy and quick creation of CAE applications.

DesignXplorer will provide users with a unique opportunity to greatly enhance their understanding of design performance without the time constraints required for a sophisticated finite element analysis (FEA) solution. Additionally this is the first time in CAE history that performance simulation iterations can be done at the pace of CAD iterations," stated Ed Wagner, vice president of marketing services for ANSYS Inc. "By combining this solution with other ANSYS offerings, customers can build a design process that greatly decreases the cost of development and enhances time-to-market."
