Desalitech Wins Contract to Supply Irrigation Water for a Historic Massachusetts Golf Course

BOSTON- Desalitech, a provider of advanced water treatment solutions, announced today that it won a competitive bid to supply a water purification system to the Kittansett Club golf course in Marion, Massachusetts. Wells that have historically supplied essential irrigation water are being impacted by accelerating seawater intrusion.
"After researching the available technologies in water filtration in relation to the issues we were having with our well water at The Kittansett Club, it was clear that Desalitech offered the best solution and flexibility to help manage our water quality over other reverse osmosis units currently on the market," said John Kelly, golf course superintendent. "At the end of the day when we looked at cost of ownership, operational cost, efficiency and the unit's ability to manage varying salinity levels without upgrading equipment, Desalitech's system was at the top of our list."
Desalitech's Closed Circuit Desalination (CCD) reverse osmosis products save water and lower treatment costs by a compelling 20 60% compared to the most advanced systems available today. The Kittansett Club's CCD unit will treat 100 gallons per minute of well water varying from 1,000 to 10,000 parts per million dissolved salts. It is designed for maximum water utilization, capable of producing over 9 gallons of purified water from every 10 gallons it is fed, thereby minimizing well withdrawals and reject flow. CCD units are in use in other similar agricultural projects, providing unparalleled performance when compared to traditional reverse osmosis systems.
"Our proprietary CCD process has the ability to adjust to varying feedwater conditions, while operating at over 90 percent recovery with a single- stage of reverse osmosis membrane elements," said Richard Stover, Desalitech's Executive Vice President.
