Delphi extends its coverage up to 80% by introducing more than 40 new part numbers in 3 product lines
PARIS, France - Delphi is launching 40 new part numbers in three key product lines in EMS (Engine Management Systems) to meet rising demand for its OE-quality replacement EMS components. Extensions include ignition coils, mass air flow sensors, and manifold pressure sensors.
Delphi's ignition coils range extension includes 20 new part numbers which brings their portfolio to a total of 75 part numbers covering 80% of the European parc. This extension allows Delphi to service all vehicle segments and the majority of the vehicle manufacturers, including the following applications: Renault Mégane, Clio; Peugeot 307, 407; Citroën C4, C5, C8, Xsara; Opel Astra G/H, Corsa, Vectra; Audi A3, A4; Volkswagen Golf, Passat; Mercedes A Class; Nissan Micra; Ford Mondeo; Volvo C70; Toyota Prius; and Mercedes C/E/CLK Class.
Delphi's OE expertise in Engine Management Systems
Delphi is an OE manufacturer with one of the widest product portfolios in the market, including Oxygen Sensors (direct fit and universal), Emission Sensors and Actuators (EGR valves, air mass meters, idle air control valves, throttle body, throttle position sensors, air and water temperature sensors, manifold pressure sensors), Fuel Management (fuel pumps, modular reservoir assemblies and fuel injectors).
"In order to help our customers serve the EMS market, Delphi has been one of the pioneers in the evolution of the ignition coil by developing the technology from plug top coil to pencil coil" said Lucia Moretti, vice president, Delphi Product & Service Solutions, Europe, Middle-East and Africa (EMEA).
Redouane Benhmida, regional product manager, Delphi Product & Service Solutions, EMEA, further explains, "The direct ignition system can use one central coil, individual coils on each spark plug, or ignition rails / cassettes. This means that high voltages are not routed all over the engine, but instead a higher energy spark is created at the point at which it is needed. Such designs offer much greater reliability than previous systems. Today the CPC (Cassette Pencil Coil) represents nearly 60% of the market whereas 10 years ago they only represented 2%. In addition, they have a replacement rate of 5% which represents a considerable opportunity for the repair market. Delphi is at the leading edge of this OE technology and is today making it available for its aftermarket customers."
The engine management range extension also includes 15 mass air flow sensors and 5 manifolds pressure sensors covering nearly all the vehicle manufacturers and most of the vehicle segments: Volkwagen group all models; PSA Peugeot Citroën all models; Renault Clio, Espace, Laguna, Trafic; GM Opel Astra, Corsa, Meriva; Fiat all models; Ford: Galaxy, Fiesta, Ka, and Transit.
All the new part numbers will be available during the 4th quarter of 2009 and will be listed in Tec Doc and in other main European electronic catalogues. Delphi's new complete EMS catalogue for 2009 was launched last April and is available in 18 languages.
