Delphi Designs and Engineers New Compressors

Compressors apply Delphi SP technology used on OE production vehicles worldwide

Design delivers Delphi OE-quality performance at a competitive price

LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Delphi is launching several new aftermarket compressors for popular late-model applications including Chrysler, Toyota, Honda, and GM. All of the new compressors utilize Delphi's SP compressor technology found on Original Equipment (OE) production vehicles around the world modified to fit the footprint of the original OE part. The announcement was made today at a press conference held at the Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX) in Las Vegas.

"These are not just new part numbers. This is about using Delphi's engineering capabilities and proven technology to bring OE solutions to the aftermarket," said Marcelo Ganasevici, global product line director, independent aftermarket, Delphi Product & Service Solutions. "We are fitting our OE compressor to a broader range of OE models to help deliver true value by allowing the aftermarket customer to gain access to our long Tier 1 OE supplier history, technology and quality through an attractive alternative to current product offerings."

Delphi has a rich history as a supplier of OE thermal technology to global car manufacturers. Delphi supplies major HVAC systems with Delphi compressors pumping refrigerant thru complex air conditioning systems for the Ford Fusion, Mercury Milan, Toyota Tacoma, Porsche Cayenne and Audi Q7, in addition to a host of other OEM's around the world. In fact, Toyota awarded Delphi's Thermal division with three Certificate of Achievement awards for Quality and Supplier Diversity earlier this year.

Delphi also supplies thermal systems to all Ferraris and Maseratis. Delphi worked closely with Ferrari to make sure their newest vehicle - the 458 Italia - had the highest possible passenger comfort without sacrificing any vehicle AC performance utilizing Delphi's compressor technology to ensure passenger comfort as well optimum engine performance.

The seven new compressors will fit popular late-model applications, such as GM pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles, Chrysler minivans, the Toyota Camry and the Honda Accord.

Designed to maximize heat capacity per unit mass and unit volume these Delphi compressors enable high efficiency while remaining a cost effective solution. The smooth pumping operation of its assembly provides quiet and reliable performance and its economical piston design is compact, lightweight and durable. The progressive design and the use of die-cast cylinders result in a significant size and weight reduction.
