DEK Horizon 03iX Selected for Next-Generation Technology Line at Engent

Printing technology market leader, DEK, announces that its customer, Engent, Inc., is expanding production capacity and has selected DEK’s Horizon 03iX print platform to provide advanced capability for fine-pitch, leading-edge assemblies.

Based in Norcross, Georgia USA, Engent is a high-end electronics contract manufacturer that provides electronics production services, as well as research, engineering and NPI development work for advanced and emerging technologies. With world-class facilities and a highly experienced team, Engent enables its sophisticated client base to shorten time-to-market and assess high-volume production viability. The firm selected DEK’s Horizon 03iX platform to leverage the system’s accuracy, repeatability and reliability required for today’s highly miniaturized devices.

“We deal in a broad range of technology,” explains Paul Houston, Engent’s Director of Engineering. “Our customers are primarily in the military, industrial and medical markets, and we offer production capability for anything from SMT to flip chip to die attach wirebond. For these types of products and processes, high reliability and accuracy are critical, which is why we chose the DEK platform.”

DEK’s flagship Horizon03iX printing system offers maximum flexibility, enabling adaptation to multiple manufacturing requirements. With Six Sigma machine alignment capability of 2 Cpk @ +/- 12.5µm, Six Sigma process alignment capability of 2 Cpk @ +/- 25µm guaranteed, a 12-second cycle time and intuitive Instinctiv V9 operator control, the Horizon 03iX delivers best-in-class performance and exceptional ROI. The ability to add capability on-demand at any time ensures a future-proofed platform capable of meeting manufacturing demands well beyond current requirements.

Houston notes that Engent’s past experience with DEK played a large part in the latest capital equipment decision. “We have two DEK printers which have been integral to our business since its inception over 12 years ago,” he says. “Our experience with the printers’ performance and the excellent support we’ve consistently received made DEK the obvious choice for this latest expansion. We are very confident about the capability of the platform, its unique options and its ability to enable high throughput, high yield production on our most advanced technology production line.”

Engent selected the Horizon 03iX to facilitate exceptionally accurate and repeatable printing for highly miniaturized devices such as 01005s, 0.3mm CSPs and flip chips. Equipped with next-generation DEK technologies such as Cyclone understencil cleaning, HawkEye print verification and automatic stencil load, the Horizon 03iX will deliver an optimized print process conducive to modern, fine-pitch assemblies.

“Partnering with top suppliers like DEK has allowed Engent to stay on the leading edge of technology, which is what our customers demand,” says Houston in summary. “Our business has continued to expand – even through two market downturns – and we rely on solid relationships with companies like DEK to enable our competitiveness and success.”
