Fujitsu Delivers Mag EraSURE(TM) Degausser for Commercial Applications

Leading-Edge Product Offers Fast and Reliable Data Disposal From Magnetically Recorded Media

SUNNYVALE, Calif., May 30 / -- Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc., one of the world's leading suppliers of innovative computer products including hard disk drives, peripherals and biometric security solutions, today proudly announced the Mag EraSURE(TM) Professional Value (P2V) desktop degausser. The product is an effective, economical solution for industries that require fast and secure removal of magnetically recorded data from hard disk drives, removable disks and backup tapes.

The Fujitsu Mag EraSURE family of products utilizes a rare earth permanent magnet to degauss magnetically recorded information. Data becomes permanently unrecoverable by commercial means(1) once exposed to the powerful magnet in the device. In addition to purging recorded information on the storage device, including servo and calibration data, the degausser also destroys most read/write heads.

"The rise of the digital age was accompanied by a dramatic increase in the creation and storage of sensitive customer data," said Dan Dalton, director, Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc. "From an operational perspective this can cause challenges, one of which is how to securely dispose of confidential information after it has served its useful purpose. Mag EraSURE is the solution to that problem offering users a fast, easy and reliable way to know that their information won't fall into the wrong hands."

Another key feature of the Fujitsu Mag EraSURE is its user-friendly operation. Users simply insert the drive into the degausser and push the button; the device handles the rest. With its convenient desktop size, Mag EraSURE is extremely well-suited for field or remote office applications in a wide variety of industries that deal in highly sensitive information, including: financial, legal, medical and data center markets.
