Deduster handles 30 tons of material per hour.

Press Release Summary:

Model P-600 dust contaminant removal system is for large applications in plastics and other chemical industries. Split, low-profile design allows for easy retrofitting in limited headroom applications. System has 2 large air-wash decks, 2 Venturi chambers, and 2 flux generators. Venturi chambers and air-wash decks provide precise control of airflow, allowing for wide variation of flow rates and fines content.

Pelletron Introduces Redesigned Deduster With 30-Ton Capacity

New high-performance split design for P-600 deduster allows for more efficient dedusting, easier retrofitting

LANCASTER, Pa., July 31, 2003 - Pelletron Corporation, the pioneer in dedusting technology, today introduced the newly redesigned Pelletron P-600 Deduster, a dust contaminant removal system designed specifically for large applications in plastics and other chemical industries. The new P-600 has the capacity to dedust up to 30 tons of material per hour and is among the largest offered by Pelletron.

The new P-600 features a split design, which creates a low profile for easier retrofitting in limited headroom conditions. The split design means the P-600 has two, larger air wash decks, two Venturi chambers, and two flux field generators. The dual Venturi chambers and larger air-wash decks provide more precise control of the airflow, allowing for a wider variation of flow rates and fines content, resulting in quicker, more efficient dedusting.

"The redesigned P-600 Deduster provides users with new features that help improve the efficiency of the airflow, which means greater overall dedusting capabilities," said Jerry Paulson, president and CEO of Pelletron. "Equally important is that with 48 inches of headroom, the P-600 can easily and inexpensively be retrofitted to any existing processing system."

In the split design of the P-600, dusty material enters through a manually adjustable splitter valve above the first of two flux field generators. These fields produce a low-power, electromagnetic field that disrupts the static bond between the material and any fines, fluff, or streamers that are present. The inlet deflectors spread the material across the fluidizing decks, where wash air lifts the light contaminant above the coarser product. At the end of the primary decks, the coarse product falls into either of the two Venturi chambers where counter current air lifts the dust upward toward the dust suction outlets. The coarse product falls by gravity to the secondary deck, where the fluidizing wash air ensures that all dusty contaminant is removed. A secondary dust suction opening removes the light contaminant. Lastly, the clean material drops through the bottom outlet through a second flux field generator that bathes the secondary deck with disrupting flux field.

The new and improved P-600, Paulson said, will be available in the fourth quarter of 2003.

About Fines, Fluff, and Streamers

Product contamination (fines, fluff, and streamers) is created during the pneumatic conveyance of raw material - such as plastic pellets, chemicals, minerals, or other granular materials. As the material is conveyed, pellets collide with one another and against the piping, causing minute particles to break off, resulting in dust. As the material moves a static charge builds, causing the dust to attach to the pellets. When processed, the dusty contaminants result in a rejected end product.

About Pelletron Corporation

Founded in 1986, Pelletron Corporation provides dedusting solutions to manufacturers in an array of industries including automotive, medical equipment, product design and development, plastics, textiles, and food. With its patented deduster, Pelletron has helped some of the world's largest manufacturing companies - including General Motors, General Electric, DuPont, Dow Chemical, B.F. Goodrich, and Ford Motor Company - improve their production processes by separating contaminants from raw materials before processing. Pelletron offers 12 different models with processing capabilities ranging from 100 to more than 200,000 lbs./hour.
