Original Press Release:

Decontaminating Oven is Factory Assembled & Tested, To Save Time & Money

Unlike most other oven manufacturers who ship large equipment to the job site unassembled for erection in the field, Wisconsin Oven Corporation prefers to assemble equipment at their manufacturing facility so it can be tested, adjusted, certified and performance documented PRIOR to shipment. This helps eliminate installation and start-up problems, which can save the customer considerable resources in time and money.

Wisconsin Oven manufactured this particular large batch oven for a prominent ammunition company. The oven is used as part of a process where metal equipment that has been exposed to propellants and gun powder are decontaminated.

This Propane Gas Fired Batch oven is 21' wide x 25' long x 22' high and is rated for a temperature of 600° F. The oven body is fabricated with 6" thick tongue and groove panel assemblies, and is reinforced with structural steel. The interior sheet metal and ductwork feature aluminized sheet metal, which is a bonded finish, resistant to corrosion, flaking, peeling, etc.

There are bi-parting doors at each end of the oven, to allow for a flow through operation. Each set of doors is complete with extra-heavy duty ball-bearing hinges, and FM approved explosion relief latches. There is a notch in each set of doors for installation of an overhead trolley rail system to help facilitate loading/unloading. The internal structural members to support the trolley rail are included.

Combination airflow through the work chamber ensures uniform heat distribution throughout the interior. This type of airflow supplies heated air through a fully adjustable duct located on each side of the work chamber near the bottom. During a multi-point uniformity test, the inside chamber temperature was documented to be better than +/- 10° @ 400° F.

Since a piece of equipment this size is too large to ship complete, it is designed with strategically placed split-lines to allow the oven to be disassembled into smaller sections for ease of shipping and handling. Installation at the customer's job site consists of moving the large sections into final location and then bolting them together.
