Original Press Release:

New 24 Volt, 169 RPM DC Gearmotor

“Powerful, Lightweight, Unit provides benefits for Dish Positioning, Agriculture, Robotics & Automation Applications”

Compact, Low Current, 24 Vdc Gearmotor Develops 9 Lb. In. Torque at 169 RPM

Midwest Motion Products, Inc. of Watertown, Minnesota, is pleased to announce the release of a new DC Gear Motor, with integrated Optical Encoder, the Model No. MMP TM40-285D-24V GP42-025 EC-032.

Accepting any 24 Volt DC source, including solar or battery power, this robust Gear Motor measures just 1.65” in Diameter, by 5.95” long, and has a keyed output shaft of 8mm diameter by 25mm long. Easy mounting is accomplished with 4 “face mount” M4 threaded holes, equally spaced on a 36mm Dia. B.C. The featured Encoder is a 2 Channel, 32 PPR, 5V ttl device, with an index pulse. (Various resolutions available)

The output of this fully reversible gearmotor is rated for 9 Lb. In. (1 Nm) torque, at 169 RPM. Despite its compact size, and weight of approximately 1.75 pounds, it’s an efficient design, requiring just 1.2 Amps at 24 Volts DC to generate its Full Load Torque. That translates into long life battery charge, very low noise operation, and lower costs for related drive electronics. Motor windings for 12V, 18V, 28V, 36V, 42V, and 48 Volts DC are available.

With the closed REC version, this unique design is rated at an “IP 54” protection level for operation in harsh environments. Variable Speed control can be accomplished with our fully compatible Speed Controls, Model MMP 25A-24V, or MMP 20A-24V-RSP.

Samples can be BUILT FROM STOCK MATERIAL for rapid prototyping needs.

Typical options available from the company include Servo Motors with integral Optical Encoders, and a variety of Planetary Gearheads, with standard ratios ranging from 3:1 to 2653:1, and standard or low backlash precision gearing available. Motor Winding Options include 12V, 18V, 24V, 28V, 36V, 42V, and 48 Volts DC.

The company offers a variety of standard ancillary equipment including DC power supplies, DC Servomotors, PWM Servo Amplifiers, Motor Speed Controls, Linear Actuators and a wide variety of DC gear-motors. Custom Motor Shaft and mounting configurations are also available. Typical applications include Solar Tracking, Battery Operated Motors & E.V. drives, Medical, Mobility / Accessibility products, Robotics & Automation including (Military) Unmanned Guided Vehicles, Semiconductor Processing Equipment, Actuators, Packaging & Labeling Machines, Woodworking & Metalworking Machines, Dynamic Displays for Tradeshows and many other applications requiring precise motion control.
