Bel's New Micro SIP DC/DC Converter Series Provides Overall Cost and Space Savings

Open-Frame Modules Operate Over a Wide Input Range, And Ultra-Wide Output Voltage

Westborough, MA, October 16, 2008...The Bel Power division of Bel Fuse Inc. (NASDAQ BELFA & BELFB) has introduced the Micro SIP Series of non-isolated DC/DC converters, specifically engineered to minimize costs in space-critical applications. The open-frame Series joins the company's extensive portfolio of isolated and non-isolated DC/DC converters for high-speed networking, telecommunications, and computing applications. Micro Sip modules operate over a wide input range of 4.5V to 13.8V and an ultra-wide output voltage trim range of from 0.59 Vdc to 5.1 Vdc to minimize the quantity of part numbers required in inventory. Additionally, the fixed switching frequency devices feature state of-the-art technology, and yield high efficiencies up to 91%. The Micro SIP Series includes 3A, 6A, and 10A active-high enable, and true active-high enable, converter modules.

The RoHS EU Directive 2002/95/EC-compliant devices are intended for use in a wide range of distributed power architectures and POL applications in which components with an especially small footprint and limited height are required. They are commonly employed in telecommunication and networking equipment, as well as in servers, storage, and datacom applications.

Micro SIP DC-DC converters' control and protection features include differential remote on/off, under-voltage lockout, and over current/short circuit protection. Devices switch at a fixed frequency of 500 kHz. Produced in a 5-pin SIP configuration, 3A and 10A modules measure 0.65" (L) x 0.41" (W) x 0.32" (H), while 6A modules measure 0.65" (L), 0.41" (W) x 0.295" (H).
