Ultra-wide Input Range DC-DC Converters Suit Solar & Other Alternative Power Generation Technologies

ABSOPULSE Electronics introduces the PFD 120 Series ultra-wide input range dc-dc converters. With a universal input range of 90Vdc to 350Vdc, these converters offer a solution for 110Vdc, 125Vdc, 250Vdc and 300Vdc input requirements with just one single unit. Designed for use in solar and other alternative power generation applications, these units are also suitable for an extensive range of rugged industrial environments.

The PFD 120 converters employ field-proven dual conversion topology to deliver up to 120W output power. They provide tightly regulated, isolated outputs of 12Vdc, 24Vdc, 48Vdc, 110Vc or 125Vdc. A built-in redundancy diode allows for parallel and N+1 operation, or connection to a back-up battery.

The converters comply with EN/UL60950-1 and equivalent industrial safety standards and are filtered to meet EN55022 conducted and radiated requirements with wide margins. Protection features include 4300Vdc input/output isolation, over-voltage and short circuit protection with thermal shutdown and self-resetting.

Robust mechanical construction and conformal coating of all printed circuits ensure immunity to shock, vibration and moisture. Heavy ruggedizing is available for severe environment applications. The units are housed in compact 114 x 51 x 201 mm chassis-mount enclosures.

Cooling is by natural convection and conduction to customer heat-sink or chassis - the units require no forced air. This series operates at full specification (no de-rating) over a 0°C to +50 °C temperature range. Extended temperature ranges are available. Efficiency at full load is a minimum of 80%, depending on input/output configuration.
