Original Press Release:
New Non-Isolated Step-Up DC/DC Converters From Bel Provide 5V Power From 3.3V Source
SIP Converter Series Provides Efficiency Above 90%
Jersey City, NJ, March 18, 2002. The new V7PC-04C series of non-isolated boost DC/DC converters is now available from Bel, a premier developer of magnetic-based solutions for networking and computing applications. Featuring an industry standard single-in-line package, the new modules satisfy the growing demand for providing modest amounts of 5V power in applications dominated by 3.3V logic. These step-up devices operate over a 3.0 to 4.0 V input range, while providing a maximum output current of 4 A. Available either with remote on/off (V7PC-04C500), or without this feature (V7PC-04C50N), the converters boast full-load efficiencies of above 90% allowing operation to 70°C with no derating. These modules offer the industry's maximum cost/benefit ratio, as their employment may result in cost savings of from 20% to 40% when compared to similar products.
Specifically engineered for designers with minimal board space and the need to shorten time-to-market, Bel's pre-tested and pre-qualified modules, measuring 2.50" x 0.55" x 0.36", are an ideal solution. The series may be confidently specified for virtually any application where a few amps of 5V power is required and a 3.3V source is available.
Common applications include computers and peripherals, telecommunications, networking, test, and industrial automation equipment
The SIP converters provide up to 20 watts of output power, in addition to high efficiency and superior thermal performance. Moreover, the devices offer fixed-frequency operation, overvoltage and short circuit protection, along with remote on/off.
Prices for Bel's V7PC-04C series of non-isolated DC/DC step-up converters are $11.50 each in quantities of 10K. Delivery is from 4 to 6 weeks, while samples are immediately available.
