Compact 75W Single Output DC/DC Converter
Calex Mfg. Co., Inc. of Concord, California announces the QH Series DC/DC converter family. The QH single output Series is housed in an industry standard 1.45" x 2.28" x 0.52" 1/4 brick package. The QH converters provide up to 20A of output current. Output voltages consist of 3.3, 5, 12, 15 or 24VDC. All outputs are fully isolated from the inputs, allowing the output to be used with positive or negative polarity and various grounding options. There are two nominal input voltage options, 24 and 48VDC. The input range is 18 to 36VDC for the 24Vin models and 36 to 75VDC for the 48Vin models.
The efficiencies of the QH Series runs as high as 87%. The switching frequency is 360kHz. Input/ output isolation is 700VDC for the 24Vin models and 1544VDC for the 48Vin models. The QH models exhibit outstanding Vout stability and accuracy. The output voltage setpoint accuracy is ±1%. There is no Vout turn-on overshoot. The temperature coefficient is low at 0.003%/C typical. Output noise is as low as 30mV peak to peak as measured over a 20MHz bandwidth. Line and load regulation is 0.01% and 0.02% typical respectively. All models provide pulse by pulse current limiting and dead short current limiting. Additional protection is provided with input overvoltage protection and thermal shutdown.
The QH Series also offers remote ON/OFF capability and output voltage sense and trim. ON/OFF can be designated with positive or negative logic. The idle current when the module is in the OFF mode is only 6mADC. Turn-on time is 8msec. The output voltage trim range is ±10%. The baseplate operating temperature for the QH models is -40 to +100°C. The case includes threaded through-holes to allow easy mounting or to add a heatsink for extended temperature use. The thermal impedance of the unit without a heatsink is 9°C/W. The MTBF for the QH Series is >1,000,000 hours. TL 60950 and EN 60950 are pending. Pricing for 1000 units is $68.60/ea.
