Astec's New Quarter-Brick Delivers up to 60A in a Low Profile Package

Industry-Standard ALQ Series Boasts High Efficiency and Basic Insulation

CARLSBAD, Calif. - January 23, 2003 - Astec Power, a leading merchant supplier of power conversion solutions, has introduced its new single-output ALQ Series of DC/DC converters in an industry-standard quarter-brick configuration. With the highest efficiency in their class, the low profile -- 0.38-inch (9.65mm) high -- devices also feature high power density in a convenient open-frame construction that is ideally suited to Distributed Power Architecture (DPA) applications.

Operating from an input voltage range of 36V to 75V, ALQ models are currently available with 3.3V, 2.5V, 1.8V and 1.2V output voltages capable of delivering a maximum of 60A of output load current (40A for 3.3V, 50-60A <3.3V). In addition, the devices feature a clean monotonic output startup characteristic, very good regulation at less than 1 percent and excellent output stability at varying load impedance. A wide operating temperature range of -40°F to +185°F (-40°C to +85°C) enables deployment into almost any environment.

Models in the ALQ family also incorporate standard Astec Power converter features such as protection from overvoltage, overcurrent and overtemperature as well as undervoltage lockout with hysteresis to prevent false triggering at low input voltages. Added features include an output Enable pin with positive and negative logic options, a Trim pin for output adjustability and Remote Sense pins to compensate for any output distribution dropouts.

Priced starting from $85 each in OEM quantities, samples are available now.
