DC/DC Converter suits space-constrained applications.

Press Release Summary:

Model LT1935 is a 2 A, 40 V step-up converter in ThinSOT(TM) package. Input voltage of 2.3-16 V enables unit to operate from single-cell, Li-Ion batteries up to fixed 15 V input rails, delivering outputs up to 38 V. NPN switch achieves VCESAT of 180 mV at 2 A, independent of supply voltage. Constant 1.2 MHz switching frequency allows designers to keep switching noise out of noise-sensitive circuitry and enables use of tiny capacitors and inductors.

1.2 MHz, 40 V Boost Converter Has 2 A Switch in a ThinSOT

MILPITAS, CA - July 15, 2004 - Linear Technology Corporation announces the LT1935, the industry's highest power SOT-23 switching regulator. The device is a 2A, 40V,1.2MHz step-up DC/DC converter in a ThinSOT(TM) package. Its wide 2.3V to 16V input voltage range enables the LT1935 to operate from single cell Li-Ion batteries up to fixed 15V input rails, delivering outputs up to 38V. Its constant 1.2MHz switching frequency allows designers to keep switching noise out of noise-sensitive circuitry and enables the use of tiny capacitors and inductors. The combination of the LT1935's high efficiency switch and tiny ThinSOT package provides high current boost capability in a very compact form factor, making it ideal for space-constrained applications.

The LT1935's NPN switch achieves a VCESAT of only 180mV at 2A, independent of supply voltage, resulting in high efficiency even at maximum power levels from a 3V input. The high voltage switch on the LT1935 is rated at 40V, making the device ideal for boost converters up to 38V, as well as for single-ended primary inductance converter (SEPIC) and flyback designs. The device can generate 5V at up to 1A from a 3.3V supply or 5V at 550mA from four alkaline cells in a SEPIC design. The LT1935 incorporates a soft-start function and is pin-to-pin compatible with both the LT1930 and LT1613.

The LT1935ES5 is available from stock in a ThinSOT package. Pricing starts at $2.44 each for 1,000-piece quantities.
