Tyco Electronics Debuts New Eighth Brick DC-DC Bus Converter
DALLAS, TX - May 18, 2004 - Tyco Electronics Power Systems announces the industry-standard EUE200* Eighth Brick Bus Converter. This new generation of DC-DC power modules brings a significant increase in power capability to the industry standard eighth brick footprint. The EUE200 bus converter supports applications where multiple low voltages are generated using discrete/modular point-of-load (POL) converters. Providing up to 200-watts output power, the EUE200 converter is an ideal choice for compact space, high current and intermediate bus voltage applications used in servers and storage applications, access, optical network, wireless and enterprise equipment.
The EUE200 converter incorporates synchronous rectification technology and innovative packaging techniques to achieve ultra high efficiency reaching 95 percent at 12.0V full load. Operating over a narrow input voltage range of 42 to 55Vdc, the modules provide single output voltage of unregulated 4:1 step-down ratio between input/output with 200 watts respectively. The output is fully isolated from the input, allowing versatile polarity configurations and grounding connections.

EUE200 modules offer remote on/off and input undervoltage lockout management features. Safety features include protection against input/output overvoltage, overcurrent and overtemperature of the module. Output ripple and noise are minimized, removing the need for additional external filtering.
EUE200 bus converters operate in temperatures ranging from -40°F (-40°C) to 185°F (85°C). They are built around an industry standard eighth brick footprint of 2.28 in x 0.90 x 0.41 in (57.9 mm x 22.9 mm x 10.4 mm), a low profile footprint used for implementation in fine pitch system card architectures.
