Rackmount DB9 8-to-1 Switch Features Multiple Control Systems

Electro Standards Laboratories, Cranston, RI, announces the new Model 7193 Single Channel DB9 8-to-1 Switch. This versatile single channel switch enables sharing a single port interface device connected to the COMMON port among eight other devices connected to the ports labeled A, B, C, D, E, F, G and H. This switch has 8 manual pushbuttons on the front panel for local switching.

Remote control of the Model 7193 is accomplished from a 10/100-Base-T LAN Ethernet environment and either Telnet commands or a Graphical User Interface (GUI). The remote controls allow the user to control the switch position, lockout the front-panel operations and obtain the switch status. The GUI control system is user-friendly. To connect to the switch from a workstation or computer with access to the LAN that the Model 7193 LAN port is connected to, simply launch a standard web browser and type in the appropriate IP address. The GUI software features the ability to change the switch position and lockout control of the switch’s front-panel operation. This is all done with easy-to-use, simple point-and-click operation. The users can change the switch’s IP address and configuration. LAN access provides the users across the LAN or over the Internet with the ability to control the switch if the user network is configured accordingly.

This reliable switch maintains the switch position on power loss and continues to pass data. The front-panel LED’s display the switch position and power status. The Model 7193 switches all 9 pins of the DB9 interface. The switch is transparent to data speed and format. This reliable switch maintains switch position on power loss and continues to pass data. Using this efficient switch eliminates the need to plug and unplug cables. Custom length DB9 cables are available from Electro Standards Laboratories for the switch installation.

The switch is configured in a slim rackmount design. The attractive anodized black box housing provides EMI/RFI shielding. The dimensions are 19.0” W x 1.75” H x 8.0” D (48.2 x 4.4 x 20.3 cm), perfect for a standard 19” rack. The port connectors are (9) DB9 female connectors labeled A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H and COMMON. The switch weighs approximately 6.2 lbs. (2.8 kg) and is available for export worldwide.

An optional wide range power module (Catalog No. 517277) that is CE, RoHs, and UL listed makes this switch ideal for international applications. This power supply is configured in table- mount design with 100VAC/240VAC and 50Hz/60Hz. This module features an IEC 60320 C14 inlet.
